LED -
the light of the future

Light emitting diodes (LEDs) are the light of the future. What makes them interesting is their extremely long life of between 50,000 and 100,000 hours of operation as well as their robustness and energy efficiency.

In contrast to incandescent lamps, light emitting diodes do not radiate heat. They emit light in a limited spectral range and the light is virtually monochrome.

Light emitting diodes come in various colours, shapes and sizes. The various colours are created by the use of different semi-conductor crystals.
The semi-conductor materials used are mostly Silicon carbide (SiC), Gallium- Phosphorus (GaP), Gallium-Arsenic (GaAs) or Indium-Arsenic (InAs)
